I'd think that this is translation from Vlad's first person to Steve's third person back to Vlad's first person. Vlad may never have strictly said anything about it's power {in Vlad's reality}, Steve could be exercising his creative right to insert something about Godslayers existence so that we would better understand the 'Greatness' of Lady Teldra/Godslayer when it is created/re-created/etc. OR Maybe Vlad really did just know about it, such an item would have to have rumors about it. I think that if there were two of them 'they' wouldn't be called 'Godslayer' and instead called 'a godslayer'
