I wasn't enthralled by Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, though it does have
some interesting stuff (along with the stereotypical fantasy and turgid
writing).
OTOH..._Tailchaser's Song_ was the book that was good enough for me to
-bother- with the MS&T series; it's just really good, and -not-
stereotypical fantasy (or badly written).
