So...I think I remember this topic was brought up briefly, but I don't remember if it was resolved: For all Dragaeran houses except Teckla and Jhereg, the Dragaeran has to be born into it. Jhereg titles can be bought and Teckla can be joined if Easterners work with Teckla? Or at least, I think I remember reading that somewhere. It's true with Phoenixes too, right? That they have to be born into the house, obviously. I can't shake the feeling that I read in some book something about a phoenix flying over the house where Zerika was born.
