Actually, the first fantasy books I remember reading was _The Vampire Diaries_ by LJ Smith, although that's marketed more towards young adults...what can I say, I'm advanced *g* There was also a book called _The Ivory Lyre_, but I can't remember the author. It was mildly amusing dragon stuff, but not the best dragon books ever. My b/f wanted me to add that Phillip Pullman's _His Dark Materials_ Trilogy is good for kids (pre-teens). Also Salman Rushdie's _Haroun and the Sea of Stories_. And nothing can beat _The Neverending Story_ :) Also, for future reference, a friend of ours compiled this list on her website of good SF/Fantasy books for kids, with recommended ages listed as well, that you might want to check out. http://www.mamohanraj.com/kidsf.html ****** NyteMuse "Call her life unnatural, feel her undead breath.
