Dragaera

Music while reading (wasRe: A different Track)

Wed Dec 4 17:47:52 PST 2002

Okay, okay, I’ll try to stay on topic with this...

I’m bored so I thought I’d make top ten (for the moment...I’ll say in
maybe... 20 minuets this will change again) suggestions for reading Brust,
Dragaera books with music... though I almost NEVER take my own suggestions
or follow my own advise and *almost* never read with music unless I’m
studying and then it’s a must, so... emmm.... don’t listen to me:

(A little space in case you haven’t read all the books, and/or haven’t
started Paths of the Dead but you’re good with music)

1) All Morrolan scenes listen to Grateful Dead “Mountains on the Moon”
(Kaahvren might also work with this)... though I suppose “Darkstar” works
just as well...so does Ziggy Stardust :)

2) Anywhere Paarfi is “narrating” instead of just “telling the story” maybe
listen to Bach “Concertos for Solo Harpsichord” or some variation switch to
Rachmaninov’s “Concertos for Harpsichord and Orchestra” (okay, okay, it’s
evident I like the harpsichord...)

3) All fighting scenes, with small or large pointy things try Radiohead’s
“Pablo Honey” album?

4) Taazendra narration with Lita Ford, emmm, no, maybe Blondie, no, emmmm
Nancy Sinatra, yeah that might be right, maybe not though...

5) Phish’s “Escher” for scenes in the Paths? (mentally debating myself on
this one...not sure which side is winning yet) how about “All Cats are Grey”
by The Cure, no, no, I know “Darkside of the Moon”

6) Vlad at the office, hummm, Alman Brothers? around Adrilankha, emmm,
Humble Pie? No, don’t like Humble Pie? How about Greg Brown or John Gorka;
Leonard Cohen?<me=*laughing to herself while rolling her eyes*>

7) Read “Teckla” with London After Midnight’s “Shatter” or switch between
“Shatter,” Paralyzed Age’s “I Can Still Hear You Singing,” and Violent
Femm’s “Kiss Off” (<---definitely this one)

8) Anything with Sethra listen to Eva-O just to make her mysterious, or or,
emmm, Bauhaus

9) Anything with Kiera, Gitane Demone or or, emmm Love and Rockets, heh.

10) And how about John Cage’s 4'33" to EVERYTHING (yes! yes! I think this is
my best suggestion yet)

There, clearly a work in progress but it has passed the time and relieved
some of the boredom until I got to go home....which I now do :)
