Sheer startlement and surprise, IMHO, >give Miklos more than adequate reason for not having the thought >"this is an elf child" at the top of his mind. > Right, and that's when he's going *in* to Faerie. At that point, I agree that he didn't quite know what to make of her. Later, when he's had more experience with Dragaerans, he realizes that she is "fully of the blood of Faerie", and all that that implies. It's interesting that he says "fully", which contains a subtle implication that he, at least, thinks Dragaeran-Easterner crossbreeds are possible. I think that's another small hint that points at Brigitta being such a crossbreed. But it's still tenuous, I admit. Another BP/Miklos thought: Even though Morrolan was almost certainly Duke of Eastmanswatch when Miklos swore fealty to him & joined with the Teckla working on Morrolan's estates (maybe in the Pepperfields?), it occurs to me that Morrolan was probably not in residence at Redface that often. So who was/is the seneschal of Eastmanswatch? Perhaps tLoCB will mention some more details.
