Question:
Where was Morrolan when Zerika made her
descent to the Paths of the Dead?

Background:
In Taltos (Chapter 9) Morrolan tells
Vlad that he was with Zerika when she
made her descent. He claims to have
been busy killing a group of bandits at
the time. But in The Paths of the Dead,
Morrolan was not with Zerika's group at
all. In fact, he had not yet met her.
(The bandits were real though.)

Possible Explanations:
1. Paarfi got the story wrong.

2. Morrolan lied to Vlad.

3. Vlad's memory of this conversation
is wrong. (We already have evidence
that his memory of this time has been
tampered with.)

4. This is the complicated one. From
Issola, we know that one of the
necessary elements in the creation of
a Great Weapon is a soul from someone
other than the wielder. From Vlad's
description of the process, his soul
and that of Teldra have, to some
extent, become one entity. I would
expect that Morrolan would have a
similar relationship with Blackwand. If
the soul that inhabits Blackwand is
>from one of the people who were with
Zerika, then Morrolan would have those
memories, and, in a sense, he would be
telling Vlad the truth when he said
that he was there. According to The
Paths of the Dead, Morrolan had not yet
found Blackwand when Zerika jumped, so
this theory is possible. (Incidentally,
the only other female in Zerika's group
was Tazendra, and in Issola Blackwand
was identified as female.)
