I imagine it involved lots of glowing (from both Aliera & > the sword) and ghostly voices. (Thinking cinematically.) As I think about it more, I don't think there's really a bonding, as much as just taking position. I seem to remember somewhere that the Great Weapons somehow know who their owner is, and only that person can wield the weapon. Also, I believe that all of the Great Weapons were created long before any of the present characters were around (with the probable exception of Sethra, Kieron, and the gods), however Godslayer was dismantled. Thus, in order for Vlad to wield Godslayer, he must reform it.. but for the others, I think they need to merely find the weapon, or let the weapon find them. And perhaps there is some bonding that goes on, as the Great Weapon connects with and starts protecting the wielder's soul. However, I don't think its anything like what Vlad went through in order to recreate Godslayer. Jag
