I've never heard this before and it would be interesting to see clinical evidence of decreasing mathematical abilities in woman as a function of age. There are several excellent women science fiction/fantasy writers, Sharon Shinn, Margaret Weiss, Elizabeth Lynn, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Storm Constantine, Laurel K. Hamilton, Emma Bull, Elizabeth Moon......These are just off the top of my head, I could go on for the whole page. I have to admit that half of the science fiction I have read in the past ten years was written by a woman. Strong woman characters are becoming mainstream, see _The Deed of Paksenarrion_ and _The Herris Serrano_ books by Elizabeth Moon. John D. Barnato, OD
