       Do you have a source for this? I've never heard this before and it 
would be interesting to see clinical evidence of decreasing mathematical 
abilities in woman as a function of age. 
     There are several excellent women science fiction/fantasy writers, 
Sharon Shinn, Margaret Weiss, Elizabeth Lynn, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Storm 
Constantine, Laurel K. Hamilton, Emma Bull, Elizabeth Moon......These are 
just off the top of my head, I could go on for the whole page. I have to 
admit that half of the science fiction I have read in the past ten years was 
written by a woman. Strong woman characters are becoming mainstream, see _The 
Deed of Paksenarrion_ and _The Herris Serrano_ books by Elizabeth Moon.
