I would imagin even the most terse of journals would become unwieldly in a
matter of centuries, to say nothing of the need to keep a whole slew of
languages in memory ("Damn, if I could only remember how to read
hieroglyphics, Etrusian, and Sumarian").
Still, it makes for an interesting puzzle.
