Dragaera

Empire of the East

Thu Feb 20 19:50:01 PST 2003

Saberhagen had a series of stories written in this world. It has, IMO,
absolutely no similarity to the East of Brusts work. Basically it's a
postapocalyptic world where a nuclear exchange, combined with some
experimental technology, led to an alteration of the laws of physics such
that magic now existed. In particular, the demons of the world were,
literally, the products of nuclear explosions (the metaphorical aspects of
the story should be obvious).

These stories were set in the same world that he later set his Swords
stories in (which were about twelve hypermagical swords created by the gods
that were scattered through the world -- eventually to the ruin of the
gods).

Again, I see no connection and, unless Steven cares to state a connection,
would suggest that your correspondent should really cut down on the crack
he's been smoking.
