Have to agree with the Jo Walton.  Other faves are Jacqueline Carey
(author of _Kushiel's Dart_, _Kushiel's Chosen_, and the upcoming
_Kushiel's Avatar) but only read those if masochism doesn't bother
you.  Also liked Karin Lowachee, _Warchild_.  Good sci-fi.
That's all that's coming to me right now...
