I figure that the "shape" is very rough -- vaguely oval or rectangular with the long axis more or less East-West. The size comment might be fruitful to pursue, however. There's a number of different ways to measure size, but it would be interesting to see if your map is in the ballpark of "twice the size" of Europe.
