Actually, when an author needs money, this is what pen-names are for.

Case in point, I have a "lurid tale" autographed by a well known
author who most graciously signed both names while chuckling
about being "caught out."

2 minutes of time at a con, little thought of at the time, that
has since become a cherished memory.
