I think this has gotten a little bit out of hand. Firstly, would everyone please put their predjudices away? They are waking the children. Thank you. Now, I haven't found any references anywhere to Aerich being a sorcerer. Tazendra was the sorcerous one. And, finally, please remember the sadistic, reader-torturer whose work you are now discussing. The actual Truth (with a capital "T") of the encounter is quite likely to have nothing to do with either Paafi's or Pareshes' account of it. In fact, it wouldn't shock me if the true encounter had Aerich and Paresh saving EACH OTHER'S butts against a third interloper, but neither of THEM being able to get past their own bigotry to admit it. (I am not saying that this is what happened, just that it wouldn't shock me.) However, my opinion, not that anyone has asked for it, is that Steve was attempting (and succeeded!) in showing how a single encounter can be told differently, based on the point of view. <does her best Obi-wan voice> "Luke, you will find that many of the truths we hold dear are based upon our own point of view..."
