I also was struck by how elegantly the answers were phrased. Note the
discussion on the quality (or lack thereof) of different translations of
Dumas.  I love D's prose in French and have long thought it wouldn't
translate well.  Reading this interview and imagining what SKZB must have
said in English, I begin to suspect that I'm not sufficiently fluent to
distinguish French's inherent grammatical formality and elegance from the
writer's contribution to those qualities.  Interestingly, SKZB prefered a
19th century translation to (if I guess correctly) a more modern version -
I assume in part because of the more Paarfian tendencies of earlier
English prose.

I was unable to find reference to this at Tor or Amazon.  There's an '94
