In case this hasn't been posted yet... http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main.html?2004-07/27/12.00.film Author Neil Gaiman told SCI FI Wire that New Line Cinema is set to produce the film based on his graphic novel Death: The High Cost of Living. "We got it away from Warners, who developed it to the point where everybody was really happy with it, and then they turned around and said, 'Well, hang on. This is a $15 million movie, and we don't make them,'" Gaiman said in an interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego over the weekend. "At which point [Hellboy director] Guillermo del Toro became an executive producer on the project, and we put it together over at New Line, which is part of the [Warner Brothers] giant family. Death isn't allowed to leave." Both Warner Brothers and New Line are owned by Time Warner, which also owns DC Comics, publisher of the original graphic novel and owner of the rights to the main character, a friendly, black-clad young woman who is the personification of Death. Although Variety previously reported the tentative title of the film as Death's Day, Gaiman referred to the working title as Death and Me. The story revolves around the relationship between a suicidal teenager and Death, who must spend one day each century as a human being so that she can appreciate life. Gaiman, who wrote the script and plans to direct, said that he made few alterations to the story for the film version. "It's the whole story," he said. "It's a bit bigger, because if you filmed that comic you'd have a really good 45-minute movie. So more stuff happens. It's filled in." johne (phy) cook wisconsin, usa _________________________________________________________________ Planning a family vacation?
