It's always nice to have a knife when it's time to open presents.   A  
knife, or even better, scissors can be useful when people are in an event  
with new fancy clothes that might have threads hanging.

Pocket knives make terrible weapons.   There's no way one can hijack an  
airplane with one.   The paranoia that makes them proscribed from  
airplanes is misdirected.
