After all, Morrolan is Court Wizard and Sethra is the surviving Lavode, the Lavodes being the Special Circumstances of Dragaera. So it's natural that they'd meet and work together a lot. There may also be a bit of mentoring going on, as Sethra might want to guide Morrolan in wizardry and maybe politics. As for the exchange: > "Oh yeah? Does she pay him tribute?" > "I don't know," said Teldra, smiling. > "I'll be sure to ask him...." I think we're seeing some irony on the part of both speakers. As long as Morrolan doesn't ask her to actually pay the tribute, she hasn't said 'no' and therefore there is no conflict. -- ...and so the great web of life continued on the Serengeti, as the ponies fed on the weakened prey. "Goodness, I'm glad my pony power is barbecuing!" said Drumstick as she prepared to butcher the bounty of meat for her herd. -- Queen of Wands, <http://www.queenofwands.net/d/20041018.html>
