I actually tend to forget the psychopomp aspect of Hermes, so it's
actually the speed I was going for (somewhat redundantly). But that
works too.

*nod* (though the "burrow but does not dig") bit indicates going
through tunnels as a central aspect, not a momentary one.

I've been on those too, but wouldn't call it slithery -- more "shaky"
and such (especially when they're being elevated trains, which isn't
all that sub).
