Textev that Jhegaala have a winged form. Which implies of course, that they also have a non-winged form. The only animals I know that have a winged and non-winged form are dragons and horses (which turn into pegasi when they're winged) Actually, it makes sense that one of the working class House Animals, not necessarily Jhegaala is a horse or horse-like creature. Or maybe an oxen, or a bull. I don't know of any horse that "shifts as moments pass". Something that's a "work" animal. We have animals that are scavengers (Jhereg, Teckla) Animals that are identified with prey (Teckla, maybe Tsalmoth) Animals that are definitely identified with predators (Tiassa, Dzur, Orca, Hawk, Issola, maybe Athyra) Trappers (Athyra, Yendi, Chreotha) Builders (Tsalmoth, Vallista, Chreotha,Tiassa) It would make sense that there are prey creatures that are mid-level prey creatures, but that are not prey to EVERYTHING, like (Jhegalala, maybe Athyra, Chreotha, Lyorn, Tsalmoth) which could also be the "work" animals, though I technically see Jhegaala as a Terran would--the most famous image shifter is the Chameleon. Dragons and Phoenix, are of course, a class of animals all to themselves. Jon
