Hello to all:

I am spanish, a mainly catholic country, and I can say that catholics
are against all who is forbidden by their religion: abortion, birh
control or even civil marriage. Here, where the "conservative" party
touchs power, birth control progams simply disappear, public schools get
no funds in favour of private religious ones, and no married couples get
into trouble to get services avaliable to married ones, altough iy has
been ruled by the judges that they deserve the same treatment under our
constitution.

Last year, when a military plane crashed returning from Irak, and all
the passengers died, the goverment denied the non married woman with
children all who was granted to married ones. They get no rights until
the goverment change hands.

This year, catholics are worry because the goverment has ruled that the
subject "religion" will not be mandatory in public schools. The boys and
girls will get no califications if they choose this subject. They say
the goverment is attacking their religion beliefs.

Last days, the parlament ruled that homosexuals couples get the same
rights as hetero ones, so now they can marry. The Catholic bishops
called catholic civil servants to disobey the law. Today, many judges
refuse to celebrate homo marriages questioning the constitutionality of
the law.

I think many of the members of the list are North Americans. I talk
about my country because I do not want to start a flame against USA
goverment or american religious beliefs. I have enough with my own
country, and nothing against US citizens. Just remember why the first
colonist crossed the ocean.
