Always possible with Steve; he is a musician, after all. But I think it's
analogous to "going native" used of colonial settlers (British Empire is
how I think of it) who took up some ways of the so-called "inferior"
people they were living among.
I think it's more likely a reference to good ol' "jungle fever"; mixed
races, you know?
