Well, it might be a great *Thieve's World* story, but if you don't like that sort of thing (which I don't)... I read the first few TW books many many years ago, but eventually stopped. Reading SKZB's story reminded me of why I stopped. Mild spoiler follows: As near as I can tell, in all TW stories, any sympathetic character must eventually either be betrayed to an ugly fate, or turn out to not actually be sympathetic at all once their secrets are revealed. Steve's story did not upset this precedent.
