The objectionable word was presumably the gerund form of a four-letter
Anglo-Saxon monosyllable which usually refers to an act which is
referred to in the bible euphemistically as "to know", but which in
this case was used as an otherwise meaningless intensifier.

"I wonder if we'll finally, excuse the French, ___ing find out how he
lost the finger."
