>From this discussion I take it the project is still in the initial lets all agree on the base rule set phase... With that in mind....

I would have to agree with Matt's general concept. I always understood it as All dragareans are Elves. Yet bred with some sort of relation to the species the house is named after. The Selection process then would be:

Dragarean -> House

How would easteners work in this model though, I wonder???? And can they buy their way into a house as Vlad did?

Easterner -> ?? (Guild, Tribe, ????)

I could definitely see Witch/Warlock being one of the options though since we have that as how Vlad is first presented to us in the books...

So I would equate that to D&D where you can specialize a character in certain skills, ie a sub-class such as how palladins get inherent advanced skills for their specialty. undead-hunters get access to specific skills such as turn-undead straight of the bat.

In this way I could see Dragon lords getting advanced sword skills right at level 1, Jehreg (sp) would get theive's skill and so on... Then it becomes up to the player to choose the direction of specialty after that.

Well that is alot to chew on right of the bat that is for sure... any comments??
