>On the other hand, Tim LaHaye's "Left Behind" is something I'd rather do >without. Out of curiosity, I leafed through the first book and was struck by how utterly *bad* the writing is. Never mind the overt evangelism -- if the story was good enough, I could dismiss that -- but the quality of the actual writing just plain sucked. This is a series that would never sell *unless* it pandered to a particular audiences religious convictions. I don't know how many times I've had to hold my tongue when some well-meaning acquaintence recommended them as "a really good series!" >And yes, I am an Atheist, and yes, I enjoyed C.S. Lewis as well. It's hard not to like Lewis, even as one grits one's teeth at some of his arguments. I would recommend reading Greg Egan's novella "Oracle", however. It's a sly rebuttal, of sorts, to Lewis. -- Andrew Lias _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
