It doesn't only apply to paperbacks, but hardcovers as well. But sometimes coverless books can have benefits as well.[1] I can attribute me even knowing about Brust to a certain coverless copy of _Taltos_. One of my friends picked it up because all the books she had to choose from[2] had boring covers, so she got the one without a cover. She then became addicted to SKZB and spread that addiction on to me. [1] For the record, I don't agree with buying coverless books.
