According to the language guessers, it's either Czech or
"slovak-ascii".

Wait a minute...

   "Czech and Slovak are very similar and mutually intelligible."

And whaddaya know - googling on the ISBN brings up this page (note the
".cz" domain, which is indeed Czechoslovakia).  Bingo!!!

It looks like they have only translated "Jhereg", and that just last
year.
