I always thought it was some kind of 'Herd' animal as well.

I think this is a winged House Cat.

I think this is a Black Panther, very close to an old D&D Displacer Beast (I
remember something about 'Tentacles' being mentioned? I could be wrong).

I always pictured this as a Sloth or something like that...no idea why

I think this was also a flying/avian creature, but I might be wrong.
