Beyond that, in story, we have evidence of the Jenoine. If they were willing to muck about with the genetic structure of Easterners and Humans, why balk at the idea that they'd be willing to muck about with the geologic structure of the word on which the experiment was taking place? After all, wouldn't they want their experiment to take place in a (relatively) controlled environment?
