I don't think it was a prank, it was real effort to improve the efficiency of the currency system I mean, 590millon+ were printed. It's just that noone liked them. The dragearean system can't be fiat tho, isn't it actually backed by gold? -----Original Message----- From: Gomi no Sensei [mailto:gomi at speakeasy.net] Sent: Wednesday, April 28, 2004 6:42 PM To: dragaera at dragaera.info Subject: more denominations! _Orca_ mentions 5 and 10 imperial pieces, and interestingly, 'notes or coins'. This implies at least some use of paper money, and that the Imperial is at least in part a fiat currency. Denoms thus far: 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, which mirrors the US system pretty closely. The $2 is a weird historical prank and doesn't count, though I love it. Seems apparent that a gold Imperial contains less than a gold Imperial's worth of gold, but that's just a hunch. I've been reading Stephenson's 'the Confusion' and it makes me think a lot about currency manipulation and the form v. substance of money, which ties in nicely with Orca. pe
