In a previous message, I was speculating about how Great Weapons are mythic items, that would only work [or come to life, if you will] for the people they are destined for This got me thinking about Spellbreaker's history... We never found out what Loraan was doing with Spellbreaker. He was researching it obviously, but to what end. Given his interest in necromancy, his other known item of power (that being Aliera's soul trapped in a staff), and what we now know of Spellbreaker's destiny, it's not that much of a leap to guess that he was trying to find a way to get [or possibly force] Spellbreaker to bond with a soul and thus become a GW. Of course, since that wasn't destined to happen at that time, it couldn't work. GWs aren't random items, they are tools of fate, so Spellbreaker's transformation could only happen at the right time with the right people. However, it's an interesting possibility that this may have been a trail that Loraan was going down.
