Actually, I can think of one way out assuming that Vlad and the Demon/Council agree that they're at an impasse with each other. The Council and Vlad cook up a scheme of some sort whose result is that Vlad appears to have been taking the fall under orders from the Council itself. That is, they let on that he went to Empire as a undercover agent of some sort. Maybe they even let on that he expressly did it in order to bring a Great Weapon into the House, to counterbalance against Houses like the Dragon that have multiple Great Weapons in them. The fact that someone died in the process of creating/re-creating Godslayer is just icing on the cake. Regardless of the actual facts, it would take no time for the rumor mill to fill in the details and elevate Vlad to the status of someone who had expressly gone undercover to kill a VIP in order to bring the ultimate assassination tool into the Organization. This would turn to the Council's advantage as well. "If you can't pay by next week, Lord Prissy-pants, then maybe we can arrange for a visit from Godslayer as a way of convincing you..." All in all, I can see where the Organization might feel they'd benefit more >from appearing to accept Vlad back than from pursuing vengeance for its own sake.
