Most discussions are about the Drageara novels, and can be based on facts found in the novels. Points based on those facts can usually be argued to a successful resolution, and this was the position that I and a few others held. Politics (and religion), on the other hand, are typically based on beliefs, with few if any facts, thus can not be argued to a successful resolution, as changing the beliefs of others with nothing other than your own convictions is an uphill battle.
