I've known guys who kiss their sisters/mothers on the lips; Vlad sometimes kisses Noish-pa. Whether or not it's actually peck-on-the-cheek with Kiera, it functions like one in terms of the emotion it expresses. (I mean, at scene you mention, he's still happily married to Cawti.) > Perhaps Sethra and Dolivar were lovers? I don't get that kind of a feel from Vlad and Sethra's relationship; Sethra is actually pretty warm with everybody. (Some of this may be Paarfi's inventions and manner of speaking, such as the conversation in "Sethra Lavode" pp. 140-142, where she addresses the Sorceress variously: "And how are you, my friend?" "Not worried, my love, but concerned." "You are charming." It just seems very Sethra. Of course, it's also very Paarfi.) Max Wilson -- something funny
