>You know, I've always considered it a bit odd that Vlad basically gets off >with a "Don't do it again" considering he's invaded the home of the gods. >Everybody he meets says that no living person can leave. Like many software authors, the designers of the Halls of Judgement made certain assumptions about the input data ("no need to put in code for that error, that could never happen"). Fortunately, an astute systems admin had the foresight to run a test case or two when told that the system would be processing a boundary case. He discovered a hitherto unknown buffer overflow that would not only crash the system but would likely result in corruption of the entire reincarnation databse. He then sent a memo to Verra advising her that they'd have to hand process the transaction and the Lords of Judgement agreed that just letting Vlad go was vastly preferable to getting mired in the red tape that would have been required had they kept him. >If they don't consider Easterner's people, he may hold himself insulted, and >he may go back with a certain artifact and use it the way it's makers >intended. Actually, this does raise an interesting question as to what is the qualitative difference between a Dragaeran soul and an Easterner soul. The God's could have made a case that Dolivar's soul (assuming it began existence with Dolivar and wasn't someone else before that) was inherently a Dragaeran soul but they didn't.
