Of course, Paarfi makes pretensions of being a gentleman so that really says nothing one way or another about whether the "correspondence" was conducted long-distance or side-by-side. A love affair with a vampire could be viewed as akin to necrophilia. Dragaerans are liberal about sexuality, but I'd expect that would still raise some eyebrows. Pretensions aside, it's rather clear that Paarfi is more a gentleman in word than in deed. It might not bother him all that much.
