I had the thought a while back that the Jenoine really were *genuine* humans -- not as in the original stock, but as in the characters are all characters in a book and the Jenoine are "normal" humans interacting with the characters in some metaphysical manner. This idea springs from Issola, specifically the whole bit about how the Jenoine's existance is like one room layered on top of many other rooms. That description struck way too close to being pages of a book, one on top of the other, describing different scenes or rooms for me. Someone in the prehistory of Draegearea may have exposed a book to amorphia somehow, causing the book/experiment to get out of control of its author. Periodically, the author observes the events within the book (perhaps in disguise, slipping a recorder to Vlad, or extracting artifacts like Paarfi's novels). Back in rasfwr-j, we called this a Loony Theory. Few end up being correct, but just in case... it's my Loony Theory, and I claim it. -- Homepage: http://matthew.infodancer.org/ Politics: http://triggerfinger.org/ Literature: http://speculativefiction.org/ Public Key: http://matthew.infodancer.org/public_key.txt
