Vlad probably >would not respond well to A) Cawti not telling him about his son, Until very recently, there was no way for Cawti to contact Vlad. Now, Vlad might have a few choice words for his Dragaeran friends but he really can't fault Cawti nor really fault their friends for honoring her wishes that Vlad learn about it, if and when he does, from her. B)Cawti most likely raising her son to be a revolutionary. I don't see that as a given. In fact, if Cawti has been trying to do the "benevolent crime boss" thing in South Adrilankha that Vlad was attempting to do then she's most likely fallen out with her revolutionary friends. The question is whether she's still an idealist or if she's compromised her ideals in order to use her newfound power over the Jhereg interests in South Adrilankha in order to perform some more immediate good. I daresay this is one of the questions we're all looking forward to having answered. >Is there the possibility of a custody change here? Would Vlad take VN and raise him? Unlikely, in my opinion, barring the death of Cawti. Vlad is a hunted man still. Even if he settles things with The Organization he's going to be spending the rest of his life looking over his shoulder. If Vlad settled down in Adrilankha again, I'd hope for a reconciliation of some sort but I don't see Jr. changing homes. Maybe Vlad buying a house nearby and visiting frequently. >Godslayer. Given a Dragaeran's view of a Great Weapon, I do think assassins >won't take a contract on Vlad anymore. This may or may not be a blessing. Anyone can be assassinated. Morollan has become life-challenged several time, due to both battle and assassination. >I do hope we see Zerika again, if only for the purpose of seeing her and >Vlad interact. I suspect that Vlad will encounter the Empress again before his final story is told but I wouldn't want to see him getting all chummy with her. >I doubt Teldra will awaken in this one. Steve usually isn't so kind. I believe the cover blurb of _Dzur_ more or less implies that Lady Teldra does, indeed, "awaken" as Sethra put it.
