>Okay, we know Vlad's in Dragaera. The Left Hand has his area, so I think
>Kragar's dead, captured, or just sold it.

My impression from reading the cover blurbs was that the Left Hand only
has Vlad's area in South Adrilankha (the part Kragar didn't get).

While I wouldn't be shocked to find that Kragar is no longer in charge of
Vlad's area in central Adrilankha, I don't see any evidence (yet) that
he's not still running the area around Garshos Lane.

Given the line from /A Dream of Passion/ about Kragar being "long dead", I
don't really expect him to survive the series--but at the same time, ADoP
has been proven wrong about many things. I kinda hope Kragar does survive.
I'm just not counting on it.

>What I think will be important is Vlad's impending hissy cow of
Adron-esque
>proportions when he
>learns of his son, if he does. Vlad Norathar (VN), I think, is a couple
of
>years old now. Vlad probably
>would not respond well to A) Cawti not telling him about his son, and B)
>Cawti most likely
>raising her son to be a revolutionary. Is there the possibility of a
custody
>change here? Would
>Vlad take VN and raise him? I doubt it-it'd be hard for Steve to write
Vlad
>stories if he had to
>take care of VN. But who knows? VN may go to live with Auntie Sethra.

Vlad's upset about not hearing about his son is likely to be rather brief.
Think about that conversation:

V: Why didn't you tell me?!?
C: How could I? You're on the run from the organization and out of all
communication.
V: You could have found a way. <pouts>
C: What, so you could spend all your time worrying about your son, and
maybe come back to see him and get yourself killed?
V: Uh... Good point.

As to VN being a revolutionary... At 4 years old, I don't know how much of
a revolutionary he could really be.

Also, there's no guarantee that Cawti herself is still active in Kelly's
group. She certainly has had some disagreements with them, even as early
as in /Teckla/.

>Godslayer. Given a Dragaeran's view of a Great Weapon, I do think
assassins
>won't take
>a contract on Vlad anymore. This may or may not be a blessing.

Mario might do it. For the challenge. Then again, Vlad and Mario have a
friend or two in common, so probably not.

But then, it didn't take Mario to kill Morrolan in /Jhereg/, either.
Morrolan has a Great Weapon, but we still almost lost him on that one.

>I do hope we see Zerika again, if only for the purpose of seeing her and
>Vlad interact.

Now that we've got a lot better picture of the kind of person Zerika is
(via Paarfi), this may be more likely.

Then again, Vlad's problems are not typically on the scale that Zerika
would get involved in. The events in /Phoenix/ were an exception.

>I doubt Teldra will awaken in this one. Steve usually isn't so kind.

Well, there's supposedly at least 7 more Vlad books after this one. Ya
gotta leave some stuff for the future of the series.
