Don't forget that he was Dragon Heir for a brief time, is close personal friends with Sethra Lavode, is cousin of Aliera (another Dragon Heir, and daughter of Adron, perhaps the most notorious figure in recent Dragaeran history), and is the son of the former Warlord, Rollondar e'Drien. Oh, and he also studies witchcraft and elder sorcery (generating, no doubt, endless rumors about his activities in the process) and is reputed to have sacrificed whole villages to his patron goddess during the Interregnum. He also features prominantly in the /Viscount of Adrilankha/ by Paarfi, a popular novel of the time. I doubt it's possible that any noble in Dragaera is entirely ignorant of this guy--he kind of stands out. It would be kind of like someone in our society not knowing who Bill Gates is. >To date, available evidence suggests that there is *no* target Jhereg >won't go after if the the inducement is high enough. Well, it might be difficult to hire an assassin to go after himself--especially if you wanted it morganti--but then you'd just hire someone else to take the first guy out, so... point taken. The "Mysterious number one" of the Jhereg council might come closest to untouchable that there is... But given recent history, it would likely be hard to convince anyone to go after the Emperor again, any time soon. Majikjon
