Yes.  Thanks to what you wrote here, I think I've figured it
out... the "you" isn't a person, but Dragaera City (or maybe
the Empire, or civilization, or chivalry).  "You" survived
in the form of the memories of Our Friends, and also in 
themselves as archetypes of their respective Houses.  And of
course, *they* survived because they weren't at ground zero.

[Prior to your post, I had simply assumed that "you" was
Aerich, since he wasn't named in that passage.]
