> not remember. You can earn your way into the house of Dzur, > you just have to fight 17 champions and win. Right? I don't > remember if there was an additional genetic qualification. Presumably not, since Leareth (sp?), a half-breed, joined the house in that matter (as we found out in Jhereg). I doubt they're concerned about the genetic heritage, since it's apparently very unlikely that anyone but a Dzur is going to beat all seventeen of the champions (presumably the very best warriors of the Dzur). I wonder how that membership interacts with the taboo against cross-breeds. If you become a Dzur (by defeating the champions) does that mean they'd regard you as a Dzur to the point of any children you have would be considered Dzur instead of whatever your house was before? I'm not sure that's clear. When a Dragon (genetically) that's actually a member of the House Dzur (by defeating the 17 heroes) wants to go "shopping" for a mate, which house does he do his shopping? Dzur or Dragon? Hmm. I'd love to see the Teckla bold enough to challenge some Dzur heroes (children of Srahi and Micah, perhaps?) I wouldn't expect them to win, but given the way Dzur admire courage, I'd think they'd earn some kind of accolade (if they didn't get hung up on the "lowly teckla getting above themself" sort of thing).
