Dragaera

Trellanstone

Wed Mar 3 14:04:21 PST 2004

I always thought that the Jenoine had connected in some (possibly
necromantic) way with the actual Lesser Sea, "tapping" it, if you will. And
through these connections, were actually siphoning the stuff from the Lesser
Sea and removing it to the planet that we encounter in _Issola_

But I like the point about whether or not the e'Kieron line can create chaos
or merely create *more* chaos... There is at least nothing that disproves
that conjecture.

I wonder what those small purple stones are. We know that Trellanstone, or
kyrancteur, looks crystalline, if it's looked at in a specific way, laced
with veins of a pinkish material, possibly an ore

"'There is a large rock, or stone, in the middle of the floor--right there.'
I walked over to it, but didn't touch it. 'It's about three feet high,
maybe five feet long, and a foot and a half wide at its widest point, but
very irregular and jagged; it is mostly a dark shiny grey, with pink veins
running through it.'" _Issola_, pg 145.
"'Tell me about this rock,' said Aliera.
'All right,' I said. I walked over and stood in front of it. 'The edges are
all jagged. It looks like a large piece of something that was once even
larger, if that gives you any idea. I told you about the colours, but
there's also a very thin sort of purplish vein running along one side.'
'Does it seem at all crystalline?'
'No, not... well, yes, I guess sort of, if you look at it right.'" _Issola_,
page 151.
"'Yes,' she said, 'It is trellanstone.' She smiled suddenly, 'And a nice,
big, juicy one, too.'" _Issola_, page 159.

I also wonder what would happen if a piece of necrophia, which seems to be
an ore/stone/crystal of some type,
"'The purple vein in that rock is necrophia.'" _Issola_ page 154. came into
direct contact with some amorphia? Would it, perhaps, create a purple stone
like the ones we see on the shores of both Seas? I was thinking that
perhaps those stones are a by-product of Orb-fuelled sorcery, but I don't
think that conclusion can be supported, due to the fact that they were
probably around while Elder Sorcery was still the way to do things, and also
because they appear on the shores of both Seas. If they only appeared on
the shores of the Greater Sea, from which the Orb draws, then, maybe I'd
have an argument...but...

It seems to me that Elder Sorcery was basically the manipulation of amorphia
without the necrophia, ie, without the focus. This would explain why it's
so freaking hard to do. It could very well be that the modifications that
the Gods wrought upon the Orb while it was in the Paths was nothing more
than a refining/purifying process on the necrophia present in the Orb.

It seems reasonable, to point out at this time, that the two instances we
have of kyrancteur or trellanstone are vastly different in size. One is
(and I'm not sure about the size here) anywhere from fist to basketball
sized, and the other is essentially a boulder. However, I would imagine
that the greater quantity of necrophia is off-set by the Orb being linked to
a greater quantity of amorphia, and also be "refined" in some way.
Nonetheless, I would, if I were one of the Lords of Judgement, not be
sleeping very well knowing there is such a massive piece of trellanstone in
the possession of the Jenoine.

But back to my theory of the source of trellanstone. Perhaps it was a part
of some meteor that smashed up. I hope to the gods that it wasn't part of
the planet Trellan. Otherwise I'd be looking around for an Easterner boy
called Clark Kent some day soon.

But there's still the possilbility that it is indigenous to Dragaera,
although the point is well-made that Dragaera is the only place where
amorphia exists without destroying everything else, not the only place where
it exists indigenously. But with that fact in mind, does it not stand to
reason that, regardless of amorphia's indigeny (heh) to Dragaera, it might
be that necrophia, with it's controlling influence on amorphia might exist
naturally on Dragaera, and that someone with sufficient force of will (ie, a
God) inadvertantly accessed its powers by hoping to hell that the Greater
Sea would stop and stay contained where it was instead of destroying the
universe? Remember, necrophia controls amorphia but is also connected to
the minds of those linked to it--that's how it "knows" how to shape the
amorphia.

So yeah. That's my theory. Bring the criticism :)
