Not to mention that Sorcery allows for the most effective defense against
gunpowder to be applied very precisely from afar.

Water.  Gunpowder don't fire too well when it's wet.
Fire.  It's very dangerous to store large quantities of Gunpowder anywhere
that there might be sparks.
